Sterling Hall School in Toronto wanted to send a high-tech holiday greeting, without alienating people who still love getting a card in the mail. Working with Agency Next Door, a T.O. creative shop, Unicycle Creative provided cartoon illustration, 360VR design and a print version that delivered on all fronts. Here’s how we did it.
It began with a briefing, where the client let us know the kind of activities, style and specifics they wanted to see. We then used a series of photographs taken from different points of view at the school to sketch up the best point of view.
I plotted out the buildings on a flat template called a ‘horizontal cross’. Then used the ProCreate app on the iPad Pro to cartoon the characters. providing a proof for the client to review, using a Photoshop filter called ‘Flexify’ to convert the flat template to a VR360 proof.
With final content approval, I uploaded the image and created a 360 tour with stock background music. Then, we modified the ProCreate digital cartoon in Photoshop and built an InDesign file for a printed card.
So now you don’t need to choose between an immersive online experience or a classic print-in-hand piece. With a little planning ahead, you can have both. If you want to find out more, just drop us a line.
